A New Prototype of XML Compression Technique
نویسنده
چکیده
XML makes data flexible in representation and easily portable on the Web but it also substantially inflates data size as a consequence of using tags to describe data. Although many effective XML compressors, such as XMill, have been recently proposed to solve this data inflation problem, they do not address the problem of running queries on compressed XML data. More recently, some compressors have been proposed to query compressed XML data. However, the compression ratio of these compressors is usually worse than that of XMill and that of the generic compressor gzip, while their query performance and the expressive power of the query language they support are inadequate. In practice, a good compression ratio is achievable only if there is adequate exploring and exploiting of the redundancy in the XML structure and the commonality in the XML data. Good compression and decompression times are achievable only by parsing and processing the XML document just once, such as by using an SAX parser. And there is an issue for compression time and compression ratio. In this paper we propose our approach a XML compressor which support querring compress XML data with partial decompressor. Our approach tried to address the compression time and adaptive compression ratio for XML database.

MQX: Multi-Query Processing Engine for Compressed XML Data
In this demonstration, we present an XML query engine MQX, which is developed for processing multiple subscribed XPath queries over compressed XML documents. MQX is equipped with efficient mechanisms for query rewriting, query organization and query optimization. To our knowledge, this is the first prototype to address the problem of efficiently processing multiple XML queries in a co-operative...
متن کاملCompact XML grammar based compression
Extensible Markup Language (XML) is the standard format for content representation and sharing on the Web. XML is a highly verbose language, especially regarding the duplication of meta-data in the form of elements and attributes. As XML content is becoming more widespread so is the demand to compress XML data volume. This paper presents a new grammar, called D-grammar, which defines XML struct...
متن کاملEfficient Compression and Storage of XML OLAP Cubes
In this paper, the authors present an approach to efficiently compress XML OLAP cubes. They propose a multidimensional snowflake schema of the cube as the basic physical configuration. The cube is then composed of one XML fact document and as many XML documents as the dimension hierarchy members. The basic configuration is reorganized into two ways by adding data redundancy on purpose in order ...
متن کاملA Novel Data Compression Technique for 420 Ma Current Loop Transmitters
This paper presents a new data compression method for current loop transmitters. In this method, the 4-20 mA current domain is divided into some equal pieces that are used for distinct data domain with a constant relative resolution, resulting in widening the signal span. This technique eliminated the need for high resolution ADC’s or DAC’s in communication of 4-20mA current loop signals. Furth...
متن کاملXML Schema-based Minification for Communication of Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) Systems in Cloud Environments
XML-based communication governs most of today’s systems communication, due to its capability of representing complex structural and hierarchical data. However, XML document structure is considered a huge and bulky data that can be reduced to minimize bandwidth usage, transmission time, and maximize performance. This contributes to a more efficient and utilized resource usage. In cloud environme...
